The Beyond Surf Movie Travel Journal
Day 20 / Safi, Morocco
Safi. We don’t know much about Safi. For most it’s just a dot on the map halfway between Rabat to to Taghazout, Morocco’s surfing hotspot. It’s not exactly the kind of setting our story hungry crew is searching for, but the rumors, oh the rumors. Safi is supposed to be an ugly industrial city. Some say it’s dirty there.
“There is nothing,” they say.
Those more tuned in note that, “There is a really good wave – a really good one.”
They’re quick to follow that up with a warning. “But the locals are heavy.”
Industry, localism and a place you should not visit. Ok, there might be some potential.
“Get in touch with the guy, he has a nice hotel there. He’s the go-to guy if you want to learn about what’s going on in Safi,” is the last tip we get. Minding this advice we start the next chapter: The coastal town of Safi.
