Fixer, Photographer, Self-Made Man from Taghazout, Morocco
Ayoub Abouizza is one of those witty characters that make for a great travel buddy. Almost always smiling with an open mind, he’s warm character. There’s a lot of trust and patience in his dark eyes. Planning for the Beyond surf movie shooting we discovered the Moroccan through his Instagram account and hired him to become our production fixer in Central Morocco.
Growing up in Casa, as the younger generation locals call Casablanca, Ayoub left his home and family to move to Taghazout when he was only 16. There, at Morocco’s ultimate surfing hotspot, he was exposed to photography for the first time.
Ayoub’s a self-made guy who always dreamed of living close to the waves, work in the surf business and explore his country. With a penchant for being in the right place at the right time, his circle of fellow explorers includes professional surfers, journalists and movie crews. If you are searching for somebody to guide your crew through Morocco, he’s the man. But a word to the wise, you might end up making a very good friend along the way.
We hope you enjoy Ayoub’s work. Have fun exploring more of Taghazout and Moroccan surfing, we sure did.
